TAKMING CHUANG - ARTIST STATEMENT

Takming Chuang was born in New York to immigrant parents from Taiwan and grew up in the suburbs of Queen's. He is a self-taught artist who is based in San Francisco and has recently gained the attention of galleries in New York, London and Madrid with upcoming shows in all.

Press:
"In the present series titled Self and Structure, Chuang's experiences inform his titles. Key Performance Indicator and Benchmark refer to the effect of corporate structure upon the work environment and by extension on the individual. It is fascinating to see how this visually translates into the hovering forms of color. The sense of boundaries both imposed from without and within begin to diffuse, allowing the imagination and the psyche to emerge. The new paintings very much reflect the notion of productivity by simply being present, absent of imposed structure."
